It is part of ABB's comprehensive electrical protection arc protection system. Its main purpose is to detect and report arc faults in electrical equipment. Work together with other devices such as relays or control equipment to activate protective measures when arc faults are detected.

  Main functions and features

  Arc detection: This arc monitor can detect arc faults that occur in the power system, which are often potential safety risks. By detecting arc light, it can quickly respond and take measures to prevent the fault from expanding.

  Quick response: Once arc light is detected, the arc monitor will immediately send an electrical signal to nearby circuit breakers through fast IGBT contacts within 1 millisecond. This rapid response mechanism helps to quickly cut off power and extinguish arcs, thereby preventing the occurrence of fires and other dangerous events.

  Multi detector input: The arc monitor has 10 detector inputs and can be configured with multiple detectors as needed to cover a wider monitoring area. If necessary, up to three circuit breakers with regional selectivity can be triggered to trip for more refined control.

  Scalability: Up to 2 expansion units can expand the number of photodetectors to 30 to meet electrical system requirements of different scales and complexities. The system also includes an HMI (Human Machine Interface) that can be placed outside the door for remote monitoring and operation by operators.

  Power adaptability: The power supply has a wide voltage range, supporting 100-250V DC or 100-240V AC (50/60Hz), suitable for different electrical environments.

  Real time monitoring: Provides real-time monitoring of the arc status in the power system, allowing operators to timely understand the system status and take necessary measures.

  Multiple input multiple output: The arc monitor has 10 detector inputs and can trigger up to three area selective circuit breakers to trip as needed. In addition, with up to 2 expansion units, the number of photodetectors can be expanded to 30 to meet the needs of electrical systems of different scales.
